How do Meta Paid Social campaigns work on FindAMasters and FindAPhD? Our most common queries
This guide answers some of the most common questions we receive about our Meta Paid Social campaigns, what to expect, and how they work for universities.
Our Paid Social campaigns on FindAMasters and FindAPhD allow you to reach your audience across Meta platforms such as Facebook & Instagram.
However, there can sometimes be confusion as to what is required, the ad specifications, or how exactly the campaigns will be delivered. Of course, our team at FindAUniversity are more than happy to answer any questions you may have, but we have collated our most common queries into one list in the meantime.
1. Who will the campaign target?
Meta campaigns will be set up to target users on FindAMasters or FindAPhD as well as lookalike audiences. We can add additional targeting such as discipline interests, geo-targeting, age targeting, etc.
2. What is a lookalike audience?
A lookalike audience allows us to reach new people who are similar to your existing students, applicants, or website visitors. Platforms like Meta use data signals (e.g. demographics, interests, behaviours) to find users who “look like” your current audience, helping you reach prospective students more efficiently.
3. What platforms will the ads run on?
Ads will run across Meta platforms, which are Facebook and Instagram. It is possible to run the ads on only one of these platforms if you would prefer; however, this will result in the ads targeting a smaller audience.
4. Do you create the ad creatives, or do we provide them?
Either option is available:

We can create the ad creatives for you. To do this we will require Imagery, logos, any brand guidelines and the landing page.

5. Can we run A/B tests?
Yes. We can run A/B tests to compare different messaging, visuals, or formats and optimise performance.
6. Do we need a social media account to run ads?
No. If your campaign is set up to link to a page on FindAMasters, then no social media account is required. However, if you require the campaign to link directly to your own site then we will need to run these as "Partnership ads", and for that you would require a Facebook and Instagram account.
7. What is a partnership ad?
A partner ad is a Meta ad format that allows two accounts to run an ad together. The ad’s header displays both our Meta account name as well as your own. This helps to ad creditability to the ad and also allows it to link directly to your own landing pages.
We will set everything up on our end and all that is required from you is to approve the partnersip within your Meta account.
8. Can we approve ads before they go live?
Absolutely. All ads are shared with you for approval before launch.
9. How many different ads can I run within a campaign?
Each campaign can include up to 3 different ads.
10. Can ads link directly to the university website?
Yes. To link externally, ads must be run as partner ads, which require approval from someone with admin access to your Meta account.
11. For Lead Generation campaigns, how often will I receive leads?
Leads are shared every two weeks.
12. What are the creative specifications?
All creative specifications are included in the submission form sent to you after sale.
